Davide Buscaldi is “maître de conférences” (assistant professor) at the Paris 13 University since 2012. Since February 2019 he is also part-time lecturer at the École Polytéchnique for the NLP part of the Computer Science Master 1 program. He has got his Ph.D. in Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence “cum laude” at the Technical University of Valencia (UPV) in 2010.
He has recently co-organized task 7 on Semantic Relation Extraction at SemEval 2018, has co-chaired the challenges track at the European Semantic Web Conference (ESWC) 2018 and is currently co-organizing the 2nd workshop on Deep Learning for Knowledge Graphs at ESWC 2019.
Talk Title: Towards the automatic generation of states of the art: current trends and challenges in the automated analysis of scientific texts.
In this talk I will discuss the recent advances in the automated analysis of scholarly data. In particular, the last challenges at SemEval 2017 and 2018 about relation extraction in scientific publications highlighted how researchers are applying the latest Natural Language Processing technologies to this task, and what are the key issues that still need to be solved. Ideally, these advances would lead to a new generation of tools to assist researchers and other specialists in their tasks, such as compiling a state of the art of a given topic, or writing a review for a project or an article.
His research works are focused on Knowledge Extraction, Semantic Information Retrieval and Sentiment Analysis. He is the author of more than 80 articles in international peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
